Invisible, durable composite resin fillings that match your natural tooth shade exactly. Class I, Class II, and DME restorations — metal-free, mercury-free. Old silver fillings replaced.
Tooth-coloured fillings use composite resin — a mixture of glass particles and resin polymer — that is shade-matched to your exact tooth colour. They bond directly to the tooth structure, requiring less removal of healthy tooth than old silver (amalgam) fillings.
The result: a filling that is invisible, that reinforces the remaining tooth structure, and that contains no mercury. At Tulip Dental, all fillings placed are tooth-coloured composite — we do not place amalgam.
The classification of a filling refers to the location and extent of the cavity being restored. Each class requires different technique and composite layering protocols.
Cavity on the biting surface (occlusal surface) of premolars and molars. The most common type of filling. The pit and fissure of the back tooth is the most cavity-prone area due to food accumulation.
Cavity on the proximal (contact) surface of premolars and molars — the side of the tooth that contacts the adjacent tooth. More technically demanding — requires a matrix band and wedge for proper contour and tight contact point restoration.
Disto-Mesio-Occlusal — a large cavity involving three surfaces of a posterior tooth. Technically the most demanding composite restoration — approaching the size at which a crown becomes more appropriate. Requires excellent matrix adaptation, incremental layering, and occlusal reconstruction.
